When you are building muscle or losing fat, the research converges on roughly 1.6-2.2 g/kg, because higher intakes preserve lean mass in a deficit and maximize muscle protein synthesis in a surplus.

In practice that means a 70 kg person lands near 56 g/day at the RDA, about 84 g/day for an active lifestyle, and 112-154 g/day when training hard or cutting.
